PS3

I bought a PS3. Amazon had a sweet deal that I finally gave in to: 100 bucks less than retail for a 60GB PS3 (the one with hardware emulation) with 5 free blue ray DVD's. I missed the better deal--the one where you get a free DVD remote and Resident Evil Apocalypse on Blu-Ray. Oh well.

PS3

Now for a HDTV on which the glory of this 7th generation console can be seen. That probably won't happen for quite a while though =P.

  1. A couple of inaccuracies I have to bust you on. :D 1): Sony would crap a brick if they knew you were calling their “Blu-Ray Discs” DVD’s. 2): It’s a Seventh Generation Console. The Third Generation was comprised of the 8-bit systems, Nintendo’s NES and Sega’s Master System. And 3): Dave is just burning you because you bought a first version Sony system.

Back to reading The Goblet of Fire, which I’m 172 of 734 pages through. :D

  2. To your first two comments: Bah.

Indeed, I did by a first version Sony system. The reason? Hardware emulation. Sony announced that all subsequent versions of the PS3 will use software emulation. You get a couple of good things from that like pseudo-transformation up to the native resolution of the PS3 and some additional AA shading, but you get lots of bad things from it too. Every PS2/PS1 game you want to play will need to be patched on the hard drive in order to run–taking up valuable space on that HDD. Also, the SE compatible games list doesn’t look too good right now. It won’t even play FF7.

So, I bought this version because it’s a PS2, a PS3, a Blu-ray player, and a super computer all in one =D. As to reliability, a friend has had his since launch with no troubles, so hopefully I’ll be as lucky.

  3. your blog seems to be evolving into a review of complicated electronic things. i do not understand.

  4. Well I dunno ’bout yer PS3, but teh Wii is laughing at you.

    Posted from Dave’s Wii. :D

  5. My PS3 can eat your 6.5 gen obscene gesture promoting Fischer-Price video game system for breakfast =D. You’re just jealous. Any more of these comments and you won’t get to play Heavenly Sword or Resident Evil 5 young man!

    Go play Mario Party loser.

P.S. Don’t mess with me or I might “accidentally” link you to the Wikipedia plot summary of Harry Potter 7. *Evil Grin*

  6. I know, I’m just giving you a hard time. That Heavenly Sword looks beyond massive, doesn’t it? One question, are you going to make it a Linux box? :D

  7. Unfortunately they have only been able to get it to utilize 7 cores with Linux. When they get all 8 working, heck yes. There’s nothing better than being able to ssh into my Playstation! All it needs now is a 500GB HDD :)

  8. Here’s a few of your HDD choices: http://www.newegg.com/

  9. See newly passed rule number 3 regarding your ginormous URL that I edited. No worries, just remember to use TinyURL or log in to comment from now on. Else your comment makes the site look ugly.

  10. I did log in, and I don’t why I didn’t use a Link. And you screwed up the page I had linked. lol
