1993 Washburn Acoustic
My old friend. This guitar has been retired because the fretboard has separated from the neck past the point of playability. I have written and recorded many a song on this old girl. Every song that I have writing credits for on the By the Book EP was written on this guitar. My Dad bought this instrument for me in the early 90's as a birthday gift. We only paid $400 for it. At the time, it sported top of the line electronics, a killer mahogany top, dark Gibsonesque tone, and I really dug the red finish. Playability was decent at best, but I stuck it out and earned my callouses on this very instrument.
I have used this guitar at every gig that I have ever led worship at. It's hard for me to believe that I'll never play her again. I don't think the neck damage is fixable at a reasonable price. So, thus I shall respectfully retire her to the annals of my musical history. I still love this instrument, and the resulting sentimental value is very great.
Farewell dear friend.
